The Horten Health Foundation supports ambitious research initiatives that translate scientific innovation into meaningful and sustainable benefits for patients, with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life and life expectancy.

In 2026, the Foundation will award grants through three competitive funding programmes:

  • Young Investigators Grants (YIG) - The 2026 call is now closed. The next call will open in 2027
Open to outstanding early-career researchers across all medical areas, this programme supports the next generation of scientific leaders with the potential to drive future breakthroughs.
The call will be published in January, with an application deadline in March.
  • Consortium Projects for Clinical Translation (ConPro) - The call is now open!
ConPro supports multidisciplinary consortia that translate promising scientific insights into clinical applications with the potential to change practice.
Building on previous experience, the programme will sharpen its thematic focus in 2026, concentrating on two priority areas: Brain Health and Immunology.
The call will be published in spring, with an application deadline in summer.
  • A Flagship Oncology Programme: PIONEER-Spark The call is now open!
We are currently developing a new flagship funding programme in oncology, aligned with our long-term ambition to accelerate patient-relevant innovation in this field. The call for proposals is expected to be launched in April 2026.

Updates on new programmes and calls will be shared on the Foundation’s website and via its LinkedIn page.

The Foundation does not accept unsolicited funding requests. Funding is provided through competitive calls, which are publicly announced, as well as through selected strategic initiatives proactively identified and developed by the Foundation.
